Is your environment set up for success?

Do you have all the good intentions in the world, but just can’t seem to execute?

Have you ever considered the fact that maybe its not about your lack of willpower, but perhaps the way your environment is set up to actually support the goals you set. If we don’t have the systems in place to make our goals happen, we can’t expect success.

As Brene Brown famously quoted recently You do not rise to your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.

I absolutely love this. This could apply to anything from business, personal goals, family routines, health resolutions and finances.

We can only ever really achieve as much as our organisational systems and environment will allow.

So if you have some health outcomes you would like to work on. this year - as a first step try looking at the systems you have in place and see if they are serving you or undermining you.

  1. Do u still have Xmas chocolates lying around in temptation?

  2. Do you still have biscuit tins full of leftover Christmas cake and festive biscuits?

  3. Is the freezer still laden with leftover ice creams or pastries?

  4. Is your fridge stocked with easily accessible fresh fruit and veg or is it looking a little limp after the holiday season?

Sometimes one of the most effective things you can do to get a

head start on your health goals is to do a pantry/fridge/kitchen clean out.

    Take out everything and reset.

Try some of the following RESET tips to start fresh and set up your environment for success:

    • Remove all items in your fridge and be discerning with what you put back: Look at use-by-dates and ingredients lists - how often do you actually use that sauce from 2019? What can you cull?

    • Can you donate any goods or share with a family or friend anything that doesn’t support your goals?

    • Can you set up a more organised system with labels and tubs? Check out Little Label Company for inspo

    • Can you invest in an adult lunchbox or cooler bag to make pre-packing lunches easier and more inspiring?

    • Can you make more room for fresh or frozen fruit and veg that will make consuming it easier?

    • Can you pre-cut some raw veg so its easy to grab-and-go?

    • Can you stock your pantry full of more healthy snacks? Some better snack ideas here and here and here.

    • Put your supplements in front of your toothbrush so you remember to take them everyday?

    • Put your gym clothes out on a chair nearest to the door
